  Voter Support for Kevin Cimei

Many residents have gotten to know me as their friend, neighbor, fellow parishioner, coach, committee member, and Council President. Please read their
comments supporting my candidacy as Mayor of Clinton Townhip.
These voters trust me to be their mayor, and I ask you do the same.  Please vote for me on June 3rd.  Serving as your mayor is a privilege I take very seriously.

                                                        Thank you for your support,
                                                                        Kevin

Kevin Cimei has historically shown fiscal responsibility for the taxpayers of Clinton Township, while supporting teachers and classroom instruction.  The CTEA supports his candidacy of Mayor of Clinton Township.

    President, Clinton Township Education Association

Having had the opportunity to work with Kevin on the Board of Adjustment , I can tell you he will be a tireless advocate for the taxpayers of Clinton Township. H
is experience and insightful and proactive approach to problem solving have helped the Township immensely during his tenure. Clinton Township has and will continue to face difficult problems,  such as stopping sprawl and overdevelopment and fighting unfunded state mandates. I believe Kevin is not only a good choice for Mayor of Clinton Township, but the only choice.

Clinton Township has come so far to turn back now. I urge you to vote for Kevin Cimei for Mayor of Clinton Township.

I've gotten to know Kevin Cimei and Nick Corcodilos through my work on the gypsy moth suppression program and other community  activities.  It's important to have a mayor and council that invite residents to become involved in Township governance.
I felt that my contributions were welcomed and appreciated by Kevin and Nick.  In other NJ towns, if you're not part of the "old guard," you have no voice in how your tax money is spent and you're not freely invited to participate in projects and committees.  In contrast, Kevin embraces inclusion, transparency, and independence as essential characteristics of good government.  As mayor, Kevin will work for us and with us.

Resident, Clinton Township

With his election to the Council in 2005, Kevin Cimei brought a new standard of integrity to government Clinton Township. He has helped control municipal and school taxes, reduce operations costs, eliminate dilapidated town-owned properties, and fight state efforts to slap us with unfunded mandates. As a result, Clinton Township is in better shape than it's been in a decade. Our biggest battle is to stop the new COAH rules, a state affordable-housing mandate that could require Clinton Township to build seven new Mews developments in the next 10 years. Kevin will continue to lead an effort that includes dozens of towns in this complex battle.

I'm not running for reelection because I trust Kevin to be my mayor. Please join me and vote for Kevin Cimei in the Republican Primary on June 3rd.

                            Mayor of Clinton Township

I enthusiastically endorse Kevin Cimei for Mayor of Clinton Township.  Since joining the council last year, I have had an opportunity to work with Kevin and witness up close the
positive impact he has on our community.  First and foremost, Kevin is dedicated to keeping taxes under control.  With his expertise in finance and experience as council member since 2005, Kevin understands Clinton Township finances better than anyone else on council.

As Council President, Kevin has ably represented Clinton Township in many capacities.  He served on the North Hunterdon Joint Court Committee.  He played an active role in forging the new Clinton Township Municipal Court where costs are under our control. Kevin was one of two council representatives in settlement mediation with the Windy Acres developer mandated by the Council on Affordable Housing (COAH).  He went to Trenton multiple times over the course of a year to get an agreement acceptable to both parties.  Kevin is ideally positioned to assume a leadership role to fight the proposed COAH rule changes that would unfairly increase our affordable housing obligation. Kevin also served on the Planning Board for two years.  He is committed to limiting development to what is strictly allowed by our zoning and land use plans, which have been tightened considerably in recent years. And as the liaison to the Recreation Committee, he negotiated interlocal agreements with the Board of Education to share services and school facilities for
recreation.  These agreements saved taxpayers saves thousands of dollars on rented recreation space.

On a personal level, Kevin is personable and engaging.  Prior to council meetings, he often greets and talks to residents who spend their evening observing their local government at work.  He takes time to get to know residents and their concerns.

I would be proud to serve on our council with Kevin Cimei as our mayor.  I urge you to vote for him on June 3rd.

I introduced the Route 78 noise and pollution problems to the Clinton Township council about 18 months ago. Of course making a presentation to a panel of elected officials with microphones was a nerve-racking experience. Anything involving Route 78 is a federal issue, which some elected officials would avoid. However, the council considered options to reduce the offensive noise and unhealthy pollution.  Kevin Cimei was the first to agree that we needed to take action and he supported the issue 100%.

Shortly after the council meeting, a reporter from the Democrat approached me to do a story on the problem and I asked Kevin if he could comment for the article.  He didn't think twice about saying yes.  Most politicians would carefully protect their own agendas, especially if an article might not benefit their future political career. This obviously was not the case with Kevin, and he has been very helpful through the long battle of reducing noise and pollution along this major corridor. He already supported the ordinance I requested against engine-braking by large trucks traveling through our Township.  If Kevin were elected, I believe he would openly make an effort to support other important issues without concern for “politics,” just as he did in aiding me with this problem affecting so many residents.

Resident, Clinton Township (Road Noise Committee)

The last four years have seen a renaissance within local politics in Clinton Township and Kevin Cimei’s leadership has been at the heart of this rebirth. Kevin has worked hard to control taxes, and at the same time addressed the important needs of our township. Just in the last year, with his leadership, we created a defendable COAH plan, produced a Waste Water plan, formed a new Municipal Court, acquired new Open Space and provided a safe working environment for our police.

Your local government can respond to issues facing it in two distinct ways. Be proactive and address the issues as they arrive, or reactive and address the problems generated by the issue. It takes far more effort, but the most successful companies, people and governments are proactive. This is just the type of government Kevin has been part of as Township Council President and would continue to drive as Mayor.

With no COAH plan, Clinton Township would potentially face builder remedy lawsuits. With no Waste Water Plan, we would have one less tool to direct and control how we should grow in the future. With no Open Space acquisition, Township growth (and taxes) would continue to grow out of control with no recreation space for our residents. With no new municipal building, we would be losing $60,000 a year with the old court system and would  be unable to provide our police with an adequate work environment. Like any preventive maintenance program for a car or house, each one of these programs cost money to perform, but in the long run it saves money and makes Clinton Township a better place to live.

The Mayor should lead the Township with a positive vision for the future. Kevin has that vision and has a track record to back it up! I encourage voters to investigate the platforms of both candidates. Your vote gives you the power to control the direction of your local government, but with that power come the responsibility of being informed. Get the facts.

Vote for Kevin Cimei.

Steven Krommenhoek
Clinton Township Town Council

I am writing in support of Kevin Cimei for Mayor of Clinton Township.  Recently our community has been in political turmoil over budget issues.  As the economy has slowed down and households are cutting back, our local, state and federal governments keep expanding and demanding more of our money through higher taxes.  The sad truth is that most people who participate in government benefit in some way by its growth.

Kevin Cimei is that rare individual in government who is determined to analyze where our money actually goes.  He is a business man with an accounting background who wants the best for our community, but he is unwilling to write blank checks.  He is my neighbor and friend, and I have known him for over 16 years.  I enthusiastically support his candidacy and hope you will too.
